Search out your competitors and non-competitors
One thing I always recommend to my website clients is to search the web for competitor websites or even non-competitor websites to get an idea of what you would want your site to look like. As long as you aren’t copying their sites’ content, there is no harm in copying ideas from those sites. You may find one site where you like the header but may not like the content area. Or you may find a footer that looks clean and professional and you would like to incorporate that footer into your site.
